What is the need for quant bootcamp?

As people in the social science space increasingly rely on evidence-based strategies to address societal challenges, the need for social scientists who are proficient in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies has never been more apparent.

Traditionally, social scientists have tended to specialize in either qualitative or quantitative methods. While qualitative research provides rich insights, quantitative analysis offers the rigor and evidence necessary for making informed decisions and policy recommendations. To bridge this gap, CPC Analytics’ Quant Bootcamp 2024 is designed in such a way that will equip participants with relevant data analysis skills.

Pre-Requisites

  • A laptop and internet connection

  • Willingness to learn

You are not expected to have any knowledge of R. We will cover it from scratch.

This workshop will be conducted virtually on weekends.

With its inception in 2024, the Pune Public Policy Festival (PPPF) was held in the spirit of decentralise policy thinking, and making Pune as a hub for networking and collaboration for public policy.

HOW TO THINK ABOUT DATA

In this boot camp, participants learned how not just to analyze data but also to identify what kind of data needs to be used in certain situations. They learn to develop hypotheses and develop datasets to meet or counter that hypothesis. Additionally, they learned how to acquire data from a wide variety of methods. This is the fundamental basis for quantitative analysis: what questions should you be asking?

HOW TO INTERPRET DATA

Data can be tricky, and when comparing some sets to the other, pure mathematical interpretation isn’t always the only answer. Participants needed to employ logic and context to understand their analysis fully. They learned how to do just that. They were taught the skills to double check relationships between data sets, isolate those relationships and identify individual effects of each. They learned a holistic approach to data analysis that enabled them to apply these skills universally, regardless of your primary profession.

HOW TO PROCESS DATA

Quantitative methods are processed through a various number of mathematical equations; luckily statistical software makes that simple for us. CPC Analytics taught participants how to use the R statistics program to collect, organize and test their data against one another and ultimately how to customize approaches to their own research focus.

This workshop was a virtually conducted 30-hour workshop series (weekends only), charged at INR 10,000.\n.
